About Simone Monique Barnes, EdM
Ms. Barnes has been working with, for, in, and through the arts and honoring culture for more than 18 years.
Drawing on a diverse background and heritage, she maintains a strong commitment to cultural, literary, visual and performing arts access, preservation, and diversity.
She has earned a BA (cum laude) in English Literature and Criticism, from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, an EdM in Arts in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, attended conservatory at the Hartt School of Music, and is a proud vocal music graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and Performing Arts also known as the “Fame” school in New York City.
She is also the Board Chair of the Rhode Island Black Storytellers, and is Children’s Ministry Director at Bethel AME Church in Boston, MA.
